I Vote For Saturday Competition

So, I'm going to toss this out there since this last weekend we seemed to fail at all getting together.  Too much going on, I know, it's all good.  So how about Saturday at 5pm?  We get to rolling about then and head to the previously mentioned establishments.  Anyone else out there in the blogosphere that would like to join us please just comment and we'll setup a place for us all to meet once we get clarification on the time.

Mixing Urban Drinks

The easiest way to find a happy hour, and by reason a good mixed drink, is to check out urban drinks dot com.

There are dozens of places in downtown Portland that should be brought to competition in our pending competitive effort, but what I'd like to know is what suggestions others might have.  So far I've come up with the following places, from past experience, that could and would make a mean mixed drink.  By turn, a great competitive game would be had by all, grand drinks, and a victory received.

So with that in mind, here's my 2 cents on some establishments.  Please comment with your own ideas.

  • Tear Drop (in the Pearl)
  • IV (in Old Town)
  • Typhoon (on Broadway)
  • Gilt Club (in Old Town)

...any other ideas?

Beer um' Tuesday Too!

We, the connoisseurs of the mixed beverages, will be having a short impromptu meeting about the specifics today.  The findings will then be presented for all to review and join in.  If you feel like a beer or three, join Bailey's Tap Room for a few, we'll be there having this very important meeting.  Portland hinges on the answers...

Portland Mixmasters, Cocktailologists, and Bartenders of the City

Hello and welcome to the Mixings Blog.  This blog has been created for a single purpose, to write about, initiate, cogitate, perpetuate, concoct, blend, stir, or otherwise ignite mixed drinks for the Portland Connoisseur, or people that are just like us, that like mixed drinks.

As we start this blog, we'll first initiate some competitions which will be ongoing.  To challenge the bartenders, cocktailologists, and mixmasters of downtown Portland.  Anybody can take this challenge if they so like, just let us know.  Otherwise we'll be coming around to a select few establishments initially to present the challenges in person.  If you're curious, let us know, and also, if you're a connoisseur of such things give us drop in the e-mail box and we'll let you know when we're out on the town for the challenges.

For now, stay tuned and we'll post again when we get together our first formal competition among mixmasters.
