...and the death of SUVs (check this out toward the end).

Originally these were posted on www.PortlandTransport.com, but I wanted to post here just for records sake.  I have to admit, I'm a little happier with the idea after seeing these videos.  I still however am unhappy with the streetcar for the myriad of reasons I've stated in the past such as; the OIG situation, streetcar compare #1, streetcar compare #2.

But just for review, here is the southbound route starting in the Pearl.

Here is the north bound route starting at OMSI.

While I was checking these two out, I also stumbled on two more from nc3d that created for Tuscon and Sacramento.  If these cities can ever get past the planning stages we might actually have a streetcar market again.

...and on the note of the death of SUVs, the GMC Envoy, Chevy TrailBlazer, Saab 9-7X are all being put to rest!  I was rather euphoric to see this.  I've been sick and disgusted by the backwards technological move with SUVs since they were released.  This was before I was interested in transit and still driving every day to work.  SUVs are big, gross, symbols of the things that actually make America a weakening strength in the world.  Now let me say, SUVs have a place in society, but every blasted soccer mom doesn't need one, the mentality that breeds this is just abhorrent.  So rant done, check out the link, and rejoice in some more technologically advanced, high mpg, improved autos coming instead of more SUV, low mpg, technology retarding vehicle crap.
